An RTDRS Eviction Shouldn’t Be Hard
It’s been ages since I’ve had to go through the process, but once again I made a trip downtown and have another successful RTDRS eviction on my record.
Yet I constantly hear on the website or via emails from other landlords that they were unsuccessful evicting a tenant, or the hearing officer gave the tenant to much time, the system is too confusing or the ever common “it’s stacked in the favour of the tenant”.
But you know what I never hear?
I bought your guide, I followed all the steps and I wasn’t successful evicting a tenant.
Strange isn’t it?
There’s a reason why I personally have a 100% success rate using my RTDRS processes. It’s because after going through it so often I understand exactly how it works, what you need to do to win and what you have to do to get results that you want.
I’m coming up to 500 of these guides sold and just a handful of refunds with the major reason being they were outside of the RTDRS zones and they had to instead go through the courts.
It works, that’s why I follow my own process.
The Real Problem Landlords Have With a RTDRS Eviction
The real challenge landlords seem to run up against is they are going in uneducated, unprepared and failing to understand how the RTDRS or the Residential Tenancy dispute Resolution Service actually works.
It’s not rocket science people. It’s actually a simplified hearing process where you have to lay out your facts, provide evidence backing them up and ask for what you want.
At it’s most basic, that’s what it comes down too.
If you plan on being successful with your eviction you need to educate your self on the process. You can accomplish this by going on the RTDRS information site and downloading the information they have there or reading it online.
It’s a bit convoluted and doesn’t cover everything, but it’s a start.
From there you need to prepare your evidence and again the RTDRS site does a reasonable job of explaining how to label your evidence and covers some of what you need to include.
Finally you need to be able to ask for what you want. If you’re evicting the tenant and want them out by the end of the month, you have to ask for that.
There you go, the Basics of Evicting Tenants Via the RTDRS, you’re welcome.
Now you don’t even need my guide if you can manage to get through that.
However, after spending almost an hour sitting at the RTDRS office between my first stop of filing the application and the second time waiting for my hearing it’s apparent it may not be that simple.
I saw landlords trying to organize their applications last minute because they were unaware of how many copies of everything to bring, I saw landlords asking questions after question of the clerks and I talked to several landlords who had no idea how any of this worked.
Little did they know they were sitting near the guy who actually wrote the book on evicting tenants using the RTDRS…
It was actually pretty depressing after a while.
As I look back to one of my early evictions using the RTDRS eviction process, it was actually talking to an older lady who applied very confused by the process that inspired me to create my eviction guide.
Colleen and her friend were down at the RTDRS office struggling trying to understand what they needed to do, so I walked them through the steps I learned, gave her my number in case she had questions after and voila, she ended up easily evicting her tenant.
It was shortly after that that my aha moment of creating an easy to follow guide walking landlords through everything I learned including some of my best tips and advice to get a successful eviction was born.
Here we are multiple years later and after helping thousands and thousands of landlords via this site, through my guide and through direct consultations and we’re still going strong.
And yet there are STILL landlords struggling.
I understand I can only help people who want help and I’ve also learned (unfortunately) that people generally want everything for free these days.
It’s because of that I’ve removed my phone number from the website, I’ve forced myself to limit my replying to the myriad of emails and comments I get to only once or twice a week and it’s why I’m pushing my guide so much more now.
In my mind it’s simple math. If the tenant is such a pain, such a problem that a landlord wants to resolve it as quickly and as easily as possible with as little accompanying stress, then a $39 guide that accomplishes that is a huge bargain.
If the landlord would rather stumble and bumble through the process themselves, would rather make mistakes and take some shortcuts and then wants to be able to shout from the rooftops about how unfair the system is towards landlords, they can do that too!
I’m just trying to simplify everything for those that want to win, that want to relieve the stressed look I see on so many landlords faces at the RTDRS eviction office and for those that understand that investing in my guide gives them he answers and the processes they can use again and again if necessary!
So, if you’re one of the “enlightened” landlords who understand this, here’s some information on ordering my guide and getting you started with a successful eviction!
I’m glad after buying your guide a few years ago and after my first eviction, I never have to go through that process again. It sure was a very stressful time, your guide helped me tremendously, I went to RTDRS like I knew what I was doing and went smooth. Your other guides of getting the right tenants also helped a lot to ward off eviction….awesome job Bill.
Thanks Angelito!!
Glad I was able to help,
Bill
